'Armed Response' New Champions of 'EXTREME DODGEBALL' on GSN

Top-Seeded Team Earns Coveted World Champion Title and $25,000 Grand Prize

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 7 -- It has been a season of unforgettable dodges, fights and bruises, but last night's EXTREME DODGEBALL championship game on GSN proved that "Armed Response" is a commando coalition that protects their own and responds to the pain of others! In a best-of-three match, the classic division "Armed Response" team defeated the expansion division's first place soldiers of "Delta Force" 2-1 in the championship episode for $25,000 and the admired-by-so-many title of EXTREME DODGEBALL World Champions. GSN will repeat the championship episode on Saturday, January 8 at 6 pm ET/PT.

After an intensive season of battle among the league's eight teams, "Armed Response" and "Delta Force" were fired up to face each other in the final match. Both teams came to the finals ranked number one in their respective divisions, so the match was truly anyone's game.

Game one was a rapid fire affair with bodies flying off the court. "Delta Force" came out on top and was just one game from the championship. But after "Armed Response" fought back in the second game, the competition was even again. After many bullet-fast throws, dramatic dodges and desperate dives, it came down to the three big guns on "Armed Response" -- team captain David "the Animal" Bendetto, Kel Watrin and David Rice against "last (wo)man standing" Lisa Marshall of "Delta Force." With two balls, the dangerous guards of "Armed Response" tagged Lisa in the leg just two seconds before her eliminated team members would have been reactivated.

"When you look at the past major sports champions -- the Detroit Pistons, the Boston Red Sox and now "Armed Response," you think of one thing: teamwork," said Zach Selwyn, color commentator. "I actually had "Armed Response" winning it all in the first season of EXTREME DODGEBALL, but they were forced to wear these 'C & C Music Factory' spandex biker shorts that restricted their agility, not to mention their potential to procreate. Now with cooler, low-rise shorts and better uniforms, they've let it all hang out as EXTREME DODGEBALL champions."

Play-by-play announcer Bil Dwyer (comedian) and Zach Selwyn called the shots with their unusual humorous tone from their envied skybox high above the EXTREME DODGEBALL arena. Mary Strong joined them courtside as sideline reporter.

EXTREME DODGEBALL is a No Brainer, Inc. production, executive produced by Mark Cronin and James Rowley of Mindless Entertainment.

Mark Cronin's Mindless Entertainment has several other series in production including the hit "Surreal Life 3" for VH-1, "Life Is Too Short," an NBC half-hour reality comedy pilot starring two-foot-eight actor Verne Troyer and his surrogate family, and the IFC eight-part series "Ultimate Film Fanatic," a competition show in search of the nation's biggest film buff.
