BRINGS DIVERSE PROGRAMMING LINEUP TO MIP TV 2005
Slate Includes New High-Profile Network Series and Feature Films
Universal City, CA, March 10, 2005 �NBC Universal International Television Distribution will head to Cannes with an incredibly diverse product slate on offer to buyers for MIP TV 2005, including new network series and star-studded feature films. This year's slate includes a highly anticipated network drama from Dick Wolf, a new network comedy, as well as non-scripted series, formats, news, sports and documentaries. In addition to television programming, the slate is further fueled by feature film titles including the Jamie Foxx-starrer Ray, winner of two Academy Awards� for Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Sound Mixing, and the upcoming The Interpreter, starring Academy Award� winners Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn.
New series from NBC Universal International Television Distribution include Law & Order: Trial by Jury, the latest installment in Dick Wolf's Emmy�-winning Law & Order brand, with an all-star ensemble cast including Kirk Acevedo, Amy Carlson, Bebe Neuwirth, Jerry Orbach and Fred Dalton Thompson; the compelling medical mystery drama House, which has just been picked up for a second season in the U.S.; The Office, based on the surprise British hit and already creating a strong buzz overseas; and Kojak, starring screen actor Ving Rhames in the lead role as Lieutenant Theo Kojak, and also starring Chazz Palminteri and Roselyn Sanchez.
In addition to the Academy Award� winning Ray, NBC Universal International Television Distribution's motion picture offerings include the upcoming The Interpreter, a dramatic thriller that follows an FBI agent assigned to protect a U.N. interpreter who overhears an assassination plot, starring Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn; The Perfect Man, starring Hilary Duff, Heather Locklear, Chris Noth and Aria Wallace in the story of a teenage girl (Duff) who secretly plans to find her mom (Locklear) the perfect man; and The Skeleton Key, starring Kate Hudson, Gena Rowlands and Peter Sarsgaard, a mystery set in the dark atmospheric backwoods just outside of New Orleans about a young woman hired to care for an elderly woman's (Rowlands) ailing husband in their home. The upcoming 2005 slate also features the futuristic action/adventure Doom, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and based on the most explosive home-computer game franchise phenomenon in history; the upcoming comedy The 40 Year Old Virgin, starring Steve Carell (Bruce Almighty, The Office) about a man who has done quite a few things in his life � except for one; as well as the very highly anticipated King Kong, currently in production in New Zealand with director Peter Jackson, and slated for a December 2005 release.
In addition to new programming, NBC Universal International Television Distribution will present returning series, including the Emmy�-winning and Golden Globe�-winning Monk, starring SAG Award� winner Tony Shalhoub; SCI FI Channel's hugely successful Battlestar Galactica; the series that make up the venerable Law & Order brand, from executive producer Dick Wolf; as well as current and non-scripted programming including the ongoing successful franchises Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Queer Eye for the Straight Girl, Meet My Folks, Average Joe and Celebrity Poker Showdown, as well as NBC News programming including Dateline and Nightly News with Brian Williams.
