Universal Hd Unleashes More Exciting New Content in April

UNIVERSAL HD UNLEASHES MORE EXCITING NEW CONTENT IN APRIL

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. -- March 29, 2005 -- This April, NBC Universal Cable premieres several exciting new films, specials, and series to its ever-growing lineup of quality HD programming.

April 3 marks the HD debut of the critically acclaimed series "Monk" with a nine-hour marathon. "Monk" stars Tony Shalhoub as the eponymous obsessive-compulsive detective who masterfully solves crimes despite his crippling fear of everyday objects and occurrences. On April 4, the show begins its regular run on the Universal HD lineup with the episode "Mr. Monk Goes Back to School."

On April 9, Ron Howard's romantic adventure "Far and Away" arrives on Universal HD. The film stars Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman as two young Irish immigrants who move to America in the 1890s to create a better life for themselves. "Far and Away" features beautiful camerawork showcasing the epic landscape of the American Country in its infancy.

What happens on April 23 stays on April 23 during Universal HD's Vegas Night. The date marks the premiere of two Las Vegas-themed movies, "The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas" and "Casino." Based on the beloved classic cartoon, "Viva Rock Vegas" depicts the bachelor days of best buddies Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, and their courtship of future wives Wilma and Betty during a trip to Rock Vegas. Switching gears, Martin Scorsese's "Casino" is a blistering, intense drama about two mobsters, played to perfection by Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci, attempting to make their mark in the seedy and violent Las Vegas underworld.

Terry Gilliam's mind-bending sci-fi drama "Twelve Monkeys" debuts on April 24. Bruce Willis stars as man from the year 2035 reluctantly sent back in time to the 1990s to investigate the origins of a deadly epidemic that will soon wipe out most of the world's population, forcing the survivors to live underground. Brad Pitt gives a riveting performance as the mentally unstable son of a virus expert that may or may not be the key to unlocking the mystery.
