NEW YORK, NY, June 27, 2005 ? comedycentral.com was overflowing with web surfers for the online premiere of COMEDY CENTRAL's new series, "Stella." From Tuesday, June 14 through Tuesday, June 21, more than 100,000 users logged on to view the "Stella First Look On comedycentral.com" -- which offered users an exclusive first look at the series debut episode in its entirely two weeks prior to its premiere on COMEDY CENTRAL.
"Premiering 'Stella' on comedycentral.com is the first step in our ambitious plan to provide more and more original content through broadband, including series and shorts developed specifically for the web," said Beth Lewand, vice president digital media, COMEDY CENTRAL. "The phenomenal response generated from the 'First Look' made it the most-viewed video content on the site last week and emphasizes that our audience has a voracious appetite for comedy and will seek it out on multiple platforms"
"Stella First Look On comedycentral.com" allowed online viewers to watch a complete episode of "Stella," two weeks before it premiered on-air. In addition to viewing the show, users were able take the episode to go on their Portable Media Centers and email the link on to their friends.
Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter and David Wain (from cult hits "The State" and "Wet Hot American Summer") write and star in "Stella." Each episode features a new set of absurdist obstacles for the perpetually suit-clad trio as these modern-day Marx brothers embark on various misadventures. Ten episodes of "Stella" will air beginning in June 28 at 10:30 p.m.
