[via press release from Oxygen]

THE SKINNY ON PLUS SIZED WOMEN IN AMERICA AN OXYGEN SURVEY

------

Self Identified Overweight Women Feel Good About Themselves and Their Looks

------

LOS ANGELES, July 14, 2005 -- Take that Lindsay Lohan! A recent survey completed by the Oxygen Network and Roper Public Affairs reveals that women who identify themselves as plus sized or overweight* are overwhelmingly happy with themselves and their bodies. Oxygen is premiering the two-hour programming event MoNiques Fat Chance, in August. The reality special is a beauty competition for women sized 14 and above.

More survey findings include:

73% of women size 12+ and 70% of overweight women are happy with who they are.

88% of overweight women and 89% of women size 12+ agree that their beauty goes beyond their looks.

85% of both overweight women and women size 12+ say, I may enjoy looking at celebrities in magazines and on TV, but I dont feel that I have to look like them.

79% of women size 12+ and 77% of overweight women feel comfortable going out without looking perfect.

81% of overweight women and women size 12+ agree that they think about losing weight, but are not obsessed with it.

58% of women size 12+ and 56% of overweight women are confident.

59% of women size 12+ and 57% of overweight women agree that they are sexy even thought theyre not perfect.

52% of women size 12+ and 51% of overweight women say they are sexy.

Note on the survey:

The survey was conducted for Oxygen by Roper Public Affairs, a division of NOP World. Interviews with 2004 adult women and 501 adult men were conducted online, using Ropers online consumer panel from March 23 through April 7, 2005. The survey results were weighted to reflect the population of U.S. adult women and men. Results of this survey are reported among women reporting dress size of 12 or more -- a subgroup of 1231 respondents and self-identified overweight women a subgroup of 1266 respondents. The sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points for these samples.
