ABC SPORTS HAS REACHED AN AGREEMENT TO EXTEND THE NETWORK'S COVERAGE OF THE CAPITAL ONE BOWL THROUGH 2010
ABC Sports has reached an agreement with Florida Citrus Sports to extend the network's coverage of the Capital One Bowl through 2010, starting with the January 1, 2007 game. The announcement was made today by Loren Matthews, senior vice president of Programming, ABC Sports, and by Dick Rivera, chairman, Florida Citrus Sports.
"We are delighted that we were able to reach an agreement to continue our long-standing partnership with the Capital One Bowl," said Mr. Matthews. "The Capital One Bowl will continue as the lead-in to the Rose Bowl Game, thus ensuring that ABC Sports will continue to have the best college football on New Year's Day every year."
"The partnership established in 1986 between Florida Citrus Sports and ABC Sports helped elevate the Capital One Bowl to a premiere position among college football's bowl games over the last two decades," said Mr. Rivera. "We are excited to renew this terrific relationship and continue to build on 20 years of success."
ABC Sports has broadcast the Capital One Bowl since 1987. Last year, in one of the most exciting games on record, Iowa defeated LSU 30-25 on the last play of the game.
