"THE NFL ON CBS" TEAMS UP WITH GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING DAVE MATTHEWS BAND TO "STAND UP" IN NEW PROMOTIONAL CAMPAIGN FOR 2005 NFL SEASON ON CBS
CBS Sports teams up and "stands up" with the multi-Grammy Award-winning Dave Matthews Band for THE NFL ON CBS's new promotional campaign for its 2005 NFL coverage on the CBS Television Network.
Featuring the band's title track off their most recent platinum-selling album, "Stand Up," THE NFL ON CBS's new promotional campaign will include CBS Sports personalities, along with members of the band, and NFL players illustrating the look, feel and energy of THE NFL ON CBS.
"It's a perfect fit," said Tony Petitti, Executive Producer, CBS Sports. "The Dave Matthews Band has a multi-cultural appeal that registers with a true cross-section of fans as does the NFL. There aren't many people that sell out Giants Stadium -- the Giants, the Jets -- and the Dave Matthews Band is among that exclusive club."
"We're fans of brilliance and so we love sports," says band leader Dave Matthews. "We've always loved sports. It's something in the band that's kind of interesting. Kind of brings us all together. Whether it's boxing, basketball or football, it brings us together. And even if we're rooting for opposite teams, it's something to watch greatness and to see physical genius. When we were in the studio recording Stand Up, we were all sort of joking like this would be an ultimate, get up, sort of a rabble rouser at a sports event. It's what we were thinking about."
THE NFL ON CBS's new promotional campaign kicks off in August as the Network's NFL broadcast season schedule begins with its first exhibition game on Friday, August 19 (8:00) with the Minnesota Vikings taking on the New York Jets.
