[via press release from ABC]

QUICK TAKE

MADCHEN AMICK JOINS THE CAST OF ABC'S "FREDDIE"

Madchen Amick ("Joey," "Twin Peaks") has joined the cast of the new ABC comedy, "Freddie," airing Wednesday's this season (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Amick will portray Allison, Freddie's impulsive sister-in-law. Known best to audiences for her role in "Twin Peaks," she most recently starred as Wendall Meade, Dr. Carter's (Noah Wyle) love interest on NBC's successful drama, "ER," and on NBC's "Joey," playing a photographer and love interest to Joey (Matt LeBlanc).

In 1990 director David Lynch, who played a pivotal role in her development as an actress, chose her to play waitress Shelly Johnson on the TV series "Twin Peaks," and viewers of that cult hit soon came to love Amick's sensually innocent character, who endured terrible abuse at the hands of her husband, Leo.

Her other credits include an episode of "Jake in Progress," opposite John Stamos, Stephen King's "Sleepwalker's," "Trapped in Paradise," opposite Nicolas Cage, "Scenes of the Crime," with Jeff Bridges, Morris Chestnut and Noah Wyle, as well as TV series "Central Park West" and "Fantasy Island."

"Freddie" stars Freddie Prinze, Jr. as Freddie Moreno, Jacqueline Obradors as Sofia, Brian A. Green as Chris, Madchen Amick as Allison, Jenny Gago as Grandma and Chloe Suazo as Zoey.

Bruce Helford, Deborah Oppenheimer, Bruce Rasmussen and Freddie Prinze, Jr. serve as executive producers. "Freddie," which is filmed before an audience, is from Warner Bros. Television.
