LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC is moving out of "My Kind of Town."
Scheduling updates released late yesterday indicate the network has pulled the series from its schedule effective immediately. Sunday's planned installment (Egg Harbor City, New Jersey) will be replaced by the second half of an expanded "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
With September 18 being dedicated to the 2001 feature "Pearl Harbor" and the network's Sunday fall lineup due to launch on September 25, it appears the two remaining installments of "Town" will remain on the shelf.
Overall this season, "Town" has averaged a modest 5.13 million viewers for its four-week run with this past Sunday's episode hitting a series low of 3.28 million. Said installment was also ABC's second least-watched program last week, behind only a repeat of "Less Than Perfect" (3.04 million). More troubling however was "Town's" lackluster 63.72% retention rate of lead-in "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" on average to date.
Pressure Productions is behind "My Kind of Town," a joint venture between Embassy Row's Michael Davies ("Who Wants to Be a Millionaire") and Will Macdonald and David Granger ("Don't Forget Your Toothbrush") of the UK indie production company Monkey.
