LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Sci Fi isn't backing down from the broadcast networks as the cable channel has booked a handful of new series and other original projects for the month of March.
It all begins with the long-awaited U.S. premiere of the latest "Doctor Who" incarnation on Friday, March 17 at 9:00/8:00c. Then on Wednesday, March 29 look for season two of "Ghost Hunters" to resume at 9:00/8:00c followed by the debut of "Medium at Large" at 10:00/9:00c.
The half-hour "Large," from Krasnow Productions and FremantleMedia North America, features internationally renowned psychic Char Margolis as she "offers personal psychic readings that often have the ability to transform even the most steadfast of skeptics into true believers."
On the movie front, Saturday, March 11 sees the premiere of the "Sci Fi Pictures" original "Minotaur" starring Rutger Hauer, Tony Todd and Tom Hardy. "Minotaur" joins the previously announced four-hour mini-series "Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King," which bows Monday-Tuesday, March 27-28 at 9:00/8:00c. Those interested in "Kingdom" can also check out a half-hour "making of" special on Monday, March 20 at 11:00/10:00c.
Finally, Sci Fi's Friday mainstays "Stargate SG-1," "Stargate Atlantis" and "Battlestar Galactica" will wrap their respective seasons on March 10 beginning at 8:00/7:00c.
Meanwhile over on Sci Fi's sister cable channel USA, the network has confirmed "Monk" will take a three-week break from first-run airings following this week's installment ("Mr. Monk and the Big Reward"). Against NBC's Olympic coverage, USA has opted to air several "Viewer's Choice" marathons of the series. New episodes of "Monk" will resume on Friday, March 3 at 10:00/9:00c with "Mr. Monk and the Astronaut."
