SCI FI'S 'GHOST HUNTERS' TO INVESTIGATE COLORADO HOTEL THAT INSPIRED 'THE SHINING'
NEW YORK -- February 21, 2006 -- SCI FI Channel will film an episode of its hit reality series 'Ghost Hunters' at the notoriously haunted Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. Stephen King took up residence at the Stanley while writing his best selling novel 'The Shining' and the spooky goings on at the hotel served as the inspiration for his best-selling tome. This special 'Ghost Hunters' episode will air in the spring.
According to local legend, King witnessed a ghostly little boy wandering the halls of the hotel during his extended stay there in the early 1970s. Hotel employees and visitors share similar tales of mysterious children in the hallways and guest rooms as well as lights flickering on and off and doors opening and closing seemingly by themselves. As in the King novel, the Stanley has been a popular vacation spot since opening its doors in 1909.
Brand new episodes of 'Ghost Hunters' premiere on Wednesday, March 29 at 9pm ET/PT. Catch SCI FI's weekly 'Ghost Hunters' marathon featuring episodes from previous seasons, each Wednesday from 7pm-11pm ET/PT through March 22.
In October 2004, SCI FI introduced Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson--plumbers by day, 'Ghost Hunters' by night! Enjoying record-high ratings throughout its 24-episode run, 'Ghost Hunters' has featured speaking entities, mysteriously moving furniture, ghostly visages and a healthy dose of squabbling within the investigating team. These self-proclaimed skeptics have managed to expose some of the most frighteningly compelling evidence of paranormal phenomenon ever seen on television. Being scared has never been so much fun!
Jason and Grant head up TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society), a close-knit organization of volunteer paranormal researchers?ordinary people who investigate and attempt to debunk claims of otherworldly activity. 'Ghost Hunters,' a one-hour weekly alternative reality series, follows this group of real-life "ghostbusters" as they investigate haunted houses and establishments throughout the country. Using the finest technology available, from proprietary devices designed specifically for paranormal investigations to temperature analysis and digital audio equipment, the TAPS crew spends their own time and money bringing peace of mind to those who claim to be experiencing hauntings.
Produced in association with Craig Piligian's Pilgrim Films and Television ('American Chopper,' 'Dirty Jobs'), 'Ghost Hunters' leaves no stone unturned in its search for the truth -- or the truly bizarre.
