HEAVY METALS AND HARD ROCKS RULE ON OXYGENS NEW CRAFT SPECIAL OH! BE JEWELLED

----

How-to Jewelry-Making Special Prepares to Dazzle on Saturday, May 20th at 6:30 PM*; Craftygirls.net Launches May 10th

----

NEW YORK, May 2, 2006 Do you think rusty coins, sea shells, stray beads under your dresser, and old doorknockers are useless trash? Not if Oxygen has anything to say about it. Recognizing the rapidly growing culture of craft-loving women, Oxygen has partnered with industry forerunner Elle Accessories magazine to create Oh! Be Jewelled a 30-minute special providing an insiders look at jewelry trends and easy-to-follow instructional segments from top designers on how to make your own high-fashion jewelry. Hosted by Anne Slowey, Editor of Elle Accessories magazine, Oh! Be Jewelled airs on May 20th and 21st at 6:30PM*. It will be paired with encores of Oxygens original knitting show Stitchcraft at 6:00PM* as part of a Crafty Girls programming block.

In conjunction with the premiere of Oh! Be Jewelled, Oxygen will be launching Craftygirls.net a micro-site of oxygen.com. Arriving on May 10th, Craftygirls.net will be the ultimate resource for viewers; providing detailed instructions for projects featured on the show, streaming video demonstrations, and even the ability to purchase supplies for featured projects from both Oh! Be Jewelled and Stitchcraft.

We wanted to give our viewers one-stop shopping for both ideas and materials for the fabulously creative projects were presenting in our Crafty Girls block, explains Debby Beece, President of Programming and Marketing for Oxygen. We think this type of interactive craft site and programming pairing is a great new way for viewers to experience Oxygen.

In the premiere episode of Oh! Be Jewelled, Anne highlights several jewelry and fashion designers who have mastered the hottest looks. Mark Badgely and James Mischka of Badgely Mischka offer a peek at their latest elaborately beaded gowns inspired by vintage jewelry. Supermodel Helena Christensen reveals her penchant for turning vintage finds into contemporary jewelry at her eclectic New York City store Butik. Lauren Wimmer demonstrates how to turn old finds into trendy and unique charm bracelets. Katharine Sise shows how she constructs 1920s-inspired, multi-layered necklaces a technique now making a ferocious comeback. And in a final segment, noted designer Victoria Tillotson demonstrates her technique for making hammered jewelry on a budget with a few simple supplies and still produce a stunning piece that would be difficult to distinguish from a pros work.

Oh! Be Jewelled is created and executive produced by Kathleen Minton, Executive Producer and Vice President, Oxygen Media.
