THINKFilm has acquired all worldwide rights for the theatrical release of "Strangers with Candy." The film is set to open in New York on June 28 with a national expansion in July 2006. "Strangers with Candy" the movie stars Sedaris as Jerri Blank with Colbert as Chuck Noblet and Paul Dinello as Geoffrey Jellineck. Little does Blank know that the cool kids in her middle class suburb are far more dangerous then anyone she ever encountered in prison. The ensemble cast also includes Greg Hollimon (Principal Blackman), Deborah Rush, Dan Hedaya, Alison Janney, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Kristen Johnston, Justin Theroux, Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker and Sir Ian Holm.

Set in a timeless Anytown, USA, "Strangers with Candy" deals with topics very close to everyone who has suffered through freshman year in high school, only this time they are told through the eyes of an extremely unique freshman, 46 year-old Jerri Blank (Amy Sedaris). Jerri faces the hassles of high school with a new moral crisis, introduced in every episode, brought to a comically tidy, but twisted, resolution by show's end.

Created by Sedaris ("Sex and the City," "Late Show with David Letterman"), Stephen Colbert ("The Colbert Report"), Paul Dinello (Second City Improv) and Mitch Rouse ("The Secret Lives of Men") and starring Sedaris, Colbert and Dinello, the series follows the misadventures of the misunderstood Jerri Blank. Returning home after 32 years as a teenage runaway, the well-intentioned Jerri picks up her life exactly where she left it: living at home and subsequently flunking her freshman year in high school.
