LOUIS J. HORVITZ RETURNS AS DIRECTOR OF THE ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES' "58TH ANNUAL PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS" BROADCAST LIVE ON NBC AUGUST 27, 2006

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- June 13, 2006 -- Four-time Emmy Award winner and 10-time Emmy nominee, Louis J. Horvitz will return for his twelfth time as Director of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, it was announced today by Ken Ehrlich and Jeff Ross, executive producers of the telecast. The 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live Sunday, August 27 (8:00 � 11:00 p.m., ET) on NBC, originating from the historic Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

"We are delighted to work with Lou this year as he is so incredibly talented and experienced at directing live events," said Ehrlich. "He always brings fresh ideas to the table that I have no doubt will help make the 58th Annual Primetime Emmys a memorable evening."

"I've known Lou for many years; there's nobody better," added Ross. "I am thrilled to be in his capable hands."

In March, Horvitz directed "The 78th Annual Academy Awards," marking his 10th year at the helm of the Oscars. He then directed the "41st Annual Academy of Country Music Awards" and has just completed "The American Film Institute Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Sean Connery," celebrating his 15th year with AFI. Horvitz last directed the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2004.

In a career that has spanned more than three decades, Horvitz has helmed numerous other high-profile programs including 14 years as director of "The Kennedy Center Honors" and "The Daytime Emmy's." For the past 10 years, Horvitz has also been director and executive producer of "An Evening of Stars" benefiting the United Negro College Fund.

In addition, he is well known for his work on VH1's "Divas Duets," "The 2003 MTV Movie Awards," the "2004 MTV Video Music Awards," "The VH-1 Concert For New York City" benefiting survivors of 9/11, VH1's "Hip Hop Honors," "P Diddy Presents the Bad Boys of Comedy," "The People's Choice Awards," "The Kid's Choice Awards," the "U2 Half Time at the Superbowl," "Live Aid," ABC's "In Concert" series, Paramount's "Solid Gold Series" and Norman Lear's cult classic, "Fernwood Tonight."

Louis J Horvitz is a native of Los Angeles California and earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts at the University of California at Los Angeles.
