SCI FI CHANNEL AND SUNDANCE CHANNEL JOIN FORCES TO BRING 'EXPOSURE' TO NOVICE FILM AUTEURS
8-Week Online Short Film Competition Seeks the Next Cinema Giant
New York, NY - October 2, 2006 - In an unprecedented campaign to turn the spotlight on the country's best independent, makers of short films, SCI FI Channel, in conjunction with Sundance Channel, are launching 'Exposure,' an 8-week short film competition that will allow the online community of both Web sites to crown cinema's next master.
SCIFI.COM (www.scifi.com) and SundanceChannel.com (www.sundancechannel.com) are now accepting submissions of up-and-coming filmmakers' best 2-8 minute sci-fi, horror or fantasy shorts. These films will be judged by a committee of SCI FI Channel and Sundance Channel experts, who will review the submissions and post the best ones online each week. Fans will cast their votes on either Web site to determine a weekly winner, ultimately determining the 8 finalists. These 8 shorts will be featured in an on-air special to be broadcast on SCI FI Channel (airdate to be announced) preceding the online voting to determine the grand prizewinner. That newly crowned cinema star will be awarded a trip to New York City to pitch a project to SCI FI Channel's Pictures Group.
Entries are now being accepted through November 20, 2006. Online voting will begin October 23, 2006 and run through December 17, 2006. For more information visit www.scifi.com/exposure.
