MyNetworkTV Unveils Spring Schedule, Drops Recaps from Current Slate

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- MyNetworkTV is rolling back its commitment to telenovelas as the network will air just two nights of serials this spring, instead opting to add two nights of movies and its new International Fight League coverage.

Said coverage, dubbed "International Fight League's Total Impact," will air Mondays at 8:00/7:00c starting March 12 with encore presentations of its weekly two-hour broadcast airing Saturdays at 8:00/7:00c. Movies then will run on Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00/7:00c with "The Rundown" and "Rocky IV" first out of the gate on March 8 and 9 respectively.

The moves will leave Tuesdays and Wednesdays as the fledgling network's only nights devoted to telenovelas with "American Heiress" (previously known as "To Love & Die") airing back-to-back episodes on Tuesdays starting March 13 and "Saints & Sinners" (previously known as "A Dangerous Love") likewise running back-to-back installments on Wednesdays beginning March 14.

"Heiress" stars Alicia Leigh Willis as a wealthy, pampered woman who along with a rough-hewn male hunk ends up trying to survive in the jungle after their plane crashes while "Saints" features Maria Conchita Alonso and Mel Harris as members of feuding families in the Miami Beach hotel business whose warfare is pushed to new levels when two of them (Scott Bailey, Julissa Miro) fall in love.

Also due in the spring: "The 2007 World Music Awards," set to air on Saturday, March 10 at 8:00/7:00c. ABC previously carried the ceremony in 2004 and 2005.

To review, here's MyNetworkTV's spring schedule, which takes effect on Thursday, March 8:

Mondays - "International Fight League's Total Impact"

Wednesdays - "Saints & Sinners"

Thursdays - "My Thursday Night Movie"

Fridays - "My Friday Night Movie"

Saturdays - "International Fight League's Total Impact" (encores)

Meanwhile as for its current slate, the netlet plans to drop its Saturday night recaps of "Wicked Wicked Games" and "Watch Over Me" effective immediately. Movies will fill the night - including "Something Wild" on February 3, "Deceiver" on February 10 and "The Shape of Things" on February 17 - until its spring schedule takes effect next month.
