CHILLER IS LOOKING FOR THE NEXT HITCHCOCK
"Dare To Direct" Short Film Contest Begins August 1st
Winners Showcased in On-Air Halloween Special
BURBANK, Calif. July 30, 2007 NBC Universal Cable today announced the Chiller "Dare To Direct" Short Film Contest call for entries begins August 1st. The announcement was made by Dan Harrison, Senior Vice President, Emerging Networks, NBC Universal Cable.
"The Chiller community has been engaged both online and on-air, and we wanted to scare up some of their creativity with a forum that showcases the talent we know exists in our fan base," said Harrison. "We're looking forward to the submissions and will have as much fun reviewing the shorts as our budding Hitchcocks will have making them. October will be the scariest month on television on Chiller."
The "Dare to Direct Contest" challenges fans to get creative and compete for great prizes and a chance to be featured on "Chiller's Dare to Direct Film Festival" as they write, produce, and submit short horror films. Shorts will be judged in the categories of Best Picture, Creepiest Character, and Scariest Special Effects. Viewers vote online to select five finalists in each category, and a top TV producer will select final winners. Films can be uploaded from September 5 to September 17, and voting for each category will take place from September 21 to October 1. The films will remain online for viewing throughout October. On Halloween night, Wednesday, October 31, finalists and winners will be announced and featured in "Chiller's Dare to Direct Film Festival" at 10:30pm and 1:30am (ET). The winner of each category will be awarded $5,000 and Chiller goodies. Complete rules and information can be found at ChillerTV.com.

A "Costume of the Day" will be featured on-air each day in October. The winning costumes will be announced on Halloween night, and Chiller prize packages will be awarded.
