CATHERINE BELL AND CHRIS POTTER STAR IN "THE GOOD WITCH," AN ORIGINAL MOVIE WHICH HAS BEGUN PRODUCTION IN TORONTO, CANADA FOR AIR ON HALLMARK CHANNEL IN 2008
Catherine Bell ("Army Wives") and Chris Potter ("Hairspray") have been cast to star in "The Good Witch," an original movie about a mysterious and mystical woman who moves into a small town, lives in a haunted house, and has everyone wondering if she's a witch because of the magical changes she begins to make in everyone's lives. It has begun production in Toronto, Canada for air on Hallmark Channel in 2008.
Cassie Nightingale (Bell) arrives in the small, picturesque town of Middleton just before Halloween, and moves into the town's supposed haunted house. She quickly opens up a shop called "Bell, Book and Candle," and just as quickly experiences the icy chill from the mayor's wife, Martha, who has a habit of complaining about everything. She is critical of the incense, books, essential oils and other items in the store. Soon, Martha enlists Frank (Potter), the sheriff and a single parent of two children -- Lori and Brandon -- in her campaign to close down Cassie's store which she thinks exposes the town's children to witchcraft.
Frank knows he has to respond to her complaint, but before long he and everyone in town are under Cassie's "spell" as she works her magic helping Lori with her nightmares about monsters, Brandon with his battles with the school bully, and the local bum, Walter, with a job and renewed meaning in his life.
Everything comes to a head on Halloween night when Cassie's store is vandalized setting off other events forcing the community members to look closely at what really matters in life, and to realize that maybe what Cassie conjures is something they can all conjure the power of believing in oneself.
"The Good Witch" is being produced by Whizbang Films. Orly Adelson ("Ruffian") and Frank Siracusa ("H20") are the executive producers; Ian Mcdougall ("Nuremberg") is the producer. Craig Pryce ("I Me Wed") will direct from a script by Rod Spence.
