ABC to 'Duel' with NBC's 'Choirs'
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC's "The Duel" and NBC's "Clash of the Choirs" are about to duel... or clash.

In either case, the Alphabet confirmed today its new game show - in which contestants bluff their way to cash and prizes - will launch with a weeklong stunt beginning Monday, December 17 at 8:00/7:00c - the same week NBC kicks off a similar stunt for "Choirs."

ABC had originally targeted a second cycle of "National Bingo Night" (read the story) for said week. "Bingo" will now presumably turn up sometime in 2008.

As for "Duel" and "Choirs," four of each project's six scheduled hours will air head-to-head - Monday, December 17; Tuesday, December 18; Wednesday, December 19; and Thursday, December 20 (all at 8:00/7:00c).

Additional "Duel" installments will also air on Friday, December 21 and Sunday, December 23 (also at 8:00/7:00c) while the Monday, December 17 and Wednesday, December 19 editions of "Choirs" will run as expanded two-hour broadcasts.

David Rosconval and Francis Vacher of French Television with BermanBraun's Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun are behind "Duel," which was given a 10-episode order back in September (read the story). It's not clear if the order has been cut from 10 to six or if the latter four are contingent on the success of next month's launch.

Paul Telegdy, Jason Raff and Suzy Lamb then are the executive producers of "Choirs," which comes from BBC Worldwide Productions.

Neither project has announced a host.
