MUSIC BY NEW YORK BAND THE VIRGINS SETS THE TONE FOR AN EPISODE OF THE CW'S "GOSSIP GIRL" NOVEMBER 14 AT 9PM

November 12, 2007 (Burbank, CA) - In a first for the series, The CW's new hit drama "Gossip Girl" will spotlight a range of music from an up-and-coming band, as five songs from New York-based group The Virgins will be featured on the episode "Seventeen Candles," airing Wednesday, Nov. 14, (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET). The tracks featured in the episode include "One Week Of Danger," "Fernando Pando," "Radio Christiane," "Rich Girls" and "Love Is Colder Than Death" from The Virgins' EP "'07."

In the episode, devastated by the current state of her relationship with Nate (Chace Crawford) and still dealing with the guilt from her recent indiscretion, Blair (Leighton Meester) puts on a happy face for her 17th birthday party and attempts to hide the truth from her friends. Hoping to ease the tension between Serena (Blake Lively) and Vanessa (guest star Jessica Szohr), Dan (Penn Badgley) takes Vanessa to Blair's party so the girls can have some bonding time, but this only ends up making Serena more uncomfortable. Jenny (Taylor Momsen) brings her mom (guest star Susan Misner) home for a surprise visit, but Rufus (Matthew Settle) may not be ready to forgive and forget.

The Virgins are a New York City band that has to date released only one EP but has amassed a fan base through touring and playing shows in NYC. Donald Cumming, the singer, was featured prominently at a young age in the photography of Ryan McGlinley, and has made himself one of the most visible members of an emerging Downtown NYC scene. The band came together from their downtown ties, and through friends started playing shows ranging from an appearance in Paris with Patti Smith to headlining shows at the venerable Misshapes party. They recently completed a tour with Tokyo Police Club and are just going into the studio to start work on their debut album, which is expected to come out next Spring. The songs on "'07" include songs recorded in San Diego with Louis XIV's Jason Hill as producer ("Rich Girls," "Love Is Colder Than Death," "Fernando Pando") and songs that Donald recorded himself on an 8 track in his apartment ("One Week of Danger" and "Radio Christiane"). The EP is now available for sale via iTunes or through the band's MySpace page, www.myspace.com/thevirginsnyc .

Filmed in New York and based on the popular series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, "Gossip Girl" is from Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Paramount Television Inc. with executive producers Josh Schwartz ("The O.C.") & Stephanie Savage ("The O.C."), Bob Levy, Leslie Morgenstein ("Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants"), and co-executive producers Felicia Henderson ("The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air") and K.J. Steinberg ("The Nine").
