LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- HBO and Lifetime have both planted movie tentpoles on the final weekend of May.
The pay channel has confirmed "Into the Storm," its follow-up to the Emmy-winning "The Gathering Storm," will premiere Sunday, May 31 at 9:00/8:00c. The film stars Brendan Gleeson and Janet McTeer as Winston and Clementine Churchill. They'll take over for Albert Finney and Vanessa Redgrave, who toplined the 2002 telefilm. Thaddeus O'Sullivan helmed the project, originally dubbed "Churchill at War," from a script by "Gathering Storm" screenwriter Hugh Whitemore. Ridley Scott and Tony Scott are among the returning executive producers.
Meanwhile, Lifetime will roll out its Sarah Chalke-led mini-series "Maneater" on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31 at 9:00/8:00c. The project, based on the book of the same name by "The Starter Wife's" Gigi Levangie Grazer, also stars Marla Sokoloff, Noreen DeWulf, Philip Winchester, Paul Leyden, Maria Conchita Alonso, Gregory Harrison and Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon. Timothy Busfield directed the mini-series from a script by Suzanne Martin.
