By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

HOW TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA (HBO) - Lake Bell has been upped to series regular on the upcoming comedy, about two enterprising twentysomethings - Ben (Bryan Greenberg) and his friend Cam (Victor Rasuk) - who hustle their way through New York determined to achieve the American dream. She'll continue on as Rachel, Ben's ex-girlfriend. Ian Edelman is behind the half-hour, which was directed by Julian Farino.

IT'S ALAWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA (FX) - Broadcasting & Cable reports two episodes of the show's upcoming fifth season will be released directly to DVD. The Christmas-themed offerings will then eventually air as part of its regular run. No release date or price has been set by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. The company points to its recent success with "Family Guy: Stewie Griffin - The Untold Story" as a factor in said decision. 20th will similarly release "Prison Break: The Final Break," a two-episode capper of the show's four season run, in July.

THE JANICE DICKINSON MODELING AGENCY (Oxygen) - "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency" will not return for a fifth season according to a report from Broadcasting & Cable. The cable channel will unveil its 2009-10 plans later this week and the veteran reality franchise apparently will not be among them.

TRUE BLOOD (HBO) - "Eureka" co-star Ed Quinn has booked a recurring role on the show's upcoming second season. He'll play Stan, a powerful vampire from Texas. It's not clear when his first episode will air.

UNTITLED TOM FORMAN PROJECT (TV Land, New!) - TV Week reports the cable channel has ordered a pilot presentation for a new makeover series from "Extreme Makeover" executive producer Tom Forman. While no specifics about the project were released, it's being billed as an "anti-makeover show" with a new take on the genre.

THE WONDERFUL MALADYS (HBO) - Adam Scott and Zak Orth have both joined the cast of the comedy pilot, about the dysfunctional lives of three siblings - Alice (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Mary (Molly Parker) and Neil (Nate Corddry) - who lost their parents at a young age. Orth will play Mary's playwright husband, "the confident moral center of the family," while Scott is set as Alice's ex, a businessman. Alan Taylor is helming the single-camera project from a script by Charles Randolph.
