USA ALEX SEPIOL UPPED TO VICE PRESIDENT, ORIGINAL SCRIPTED SERIES PROGRAMMING
NEW YORK, NEW YORK � June 2, 2009 � USA Network has promoted of Alex Sepiol to vice president, original scripted series programming, it was announced today by Jackie de Crinis, executive vice president of original scripted programming and to whom Sepiol will continue to report.
As vice president, original scripted series programming for USA Network, Sepiol's responsibilities include overseeing the production of USA's two recent hit series BURN NOTICE and IN PLAIN SIGHT. Sepiol also is currently overseeing production of the greenlit pilot WHITE COLLAR, starring Tim DeKay, Matthew Bomer and Tiffani Thiessen.
"Alex's promotion is well deserved," said de Crinis, "as his contributions to this team have been immeasurable."
Sepiol brought BURN NOTICE in as a pitch in 2005 and supervised the project through the development process, working closely with creator and executive producer Matt Nix. The series has been a big hit for USA, becoming the #1 new cable series of 2007 and growing in ratings ever since. As of 2009, BURN NOTICE ranks as basic cable's top scripted series in 18-49 and 25-54 and is currently in production on its third season in Miami, Florida.
IN PLAIN SIGHT was originally developed at UPN and Sepiol shepherded its development with executive producers David Maples (also the creator) and Paul Stupin once USA acquired the script. The series was the #1 show of 2008, and recently wrapped production on its second season in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It premiered last month with double-digit increases over the premiere season's total average. Sepiol also oversees WHITE COLLAR, USA's most recently greenlit original series, which stars Tim DeKay, Matthew Bomer and Tiffani Thiessen and is written and executive produced by Jeff Eastin.
Sepiol originally joined USA Network in the summer of 2001, as the assistant to Jeff Wachtel, who is currently USA's president of original programming & co-head, original content, Universal Cable Productions. After a brief hiatus, he rejoined USA in 2004 and has been busy developing and serving as production executive on his hit series, as well as looking for new series projects for USA to develop. In 2008, he was named alongside an elite group of young executives in The Hollywood Reporter's "Next Generation."
Prior to joining USA, Sepiol worked as Paul Nagle's assistant at the William Morris Agency. Outside of his work in television, Sepiol wrote two one-act plays that were produced at the Plymouth Theater in Los Angeles in the fall of 2004.
Sepiol was born and raised in Northern California and received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University.
