Country Music's Next Great Duo Moves from Television to the Recording Studio After Receiving a Recording Contract with Big Machine Records

NASHVILLE � August 3, 2009 � Thousands of hopefuls auditioned, but only two performing duos, JB Rocket and Steel Magnolia, remain to compete for the title of country music's next great duo on this week's finale of CAN YOU DUET, the music competition series created by "American Idol" producers FremantleMedia North America. After weeks of rigorous auditions and weekly performances in front of a live audience, the winning duo will be announced on Saturday, August 8 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.

Hosted by CMT's Lance Smith, CAN YOU DUET's panel of celebrity and expert judge/mentors, including country superstar Naomi Judd, Big Kenny from the duo Big & Rich, and Big Machine Records' President Scott Borchetta, took on the challenge of finding country music's next dynamic musical duo. In the finale, its JB Rocket, who were paired by the judges, versus established duo Steel Magnolia, battling it out onstage with performances of their original songs. The winning duo will record an album to be released by Big Machine Records.
