UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - September 11, 2009 - World-renowned singing sensation Susan Boyle -- who became an overnight phenomenon after appearing on "Britain's Got Talent" earlier this year -- will perform live for the first time in America on the season finale of NBC's hit summer series "America's Got Talent" on Wednesday, September 16 (8-10 p.m. ET).
Boyle, a 48-year-old church volunteer from West Lothian, Scotland, quickly rose to global fame out of nowhere after her moving audition on "Britain's Got Talent" when she beautifully sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Miserables." Her follow-up performance -- "Memory" from the hit musical "Cats" -- received rave reviews.
Although she ultimately finished as the runner-up on the hit series, Boyle immediately secured a recording contract with Sony BMG and is currently working on her debut album which, although not due for release until November, is already #1 on Amazon.com's bestselling music list due to those who have pre-ordered it.
"America's Got Talent" is produced by FremantleMedia North America and Simon Cowell's SYCO Television. Cowell, Cecile Frot-Coutaz ("American Idol"), Jason Raff ("Momma's Boys"), Scott St. John ("Deal or No Deal") and Georgie Hurford-Jones ("Britain's Got Talent") serve as executive producers.
