CHAOS (CBS) - The Eye and 20th Century Fox Television remain at odds about the future of the drama series, about an offbeat group of CIA operatives. It's understood CBS has upped its commitment from eight to 13 episodes, per the studio's request, however at a lower license fee. A deal however may still be worked out as 20th considers the tax incentives from filming in Dallas.
LIFE & TIMES OF TIM (HBO) - The pay channel has opted not to order a third season of the animated comedy, about a guy who finds himself in increasingly awkward situations at work and at home. Producer MRC Studios however is pitching the Steve Dildarian-created series to Comedy Central, Adult Swim and TBS in an attempt to find it a new home. No other specifics were given.
MAD LOVE (CBS) - Sarah Chalke is in talks to join the cast of the comedy, about four friends looking for love in New York City. She'd play Kate, "a pretty, clean-scrubbed Midwesterner who is a sweet but strong-willed romantic," a role originated by Minka Kelly in the pilot. Chalke had been in heavy demand this development cycle as the actress also co-starred in ABC's "Freshmen" and CBS's "Team Spitz." Producers are also recasting her best friend, likewise played by Lizzy Caplan in the original pilot. Said changes come as a midseason order for the project is set to close. Jason Biggs, Tyler Labine and Hal Williams also star in the Matt Tarses-penned half-hour, which comes from CBS Television Studios, FanFare Productions and Sony Pictures Television.
NCIS (CBS) - Pauley Perrette is the latest co-star to close her deal to return for the show's eighth season. Said news leaves Michael Weatherly and Sean Murray as the only regulars not locked in for the new season. Mark Harmon and Cote de Pablo already had deals in place while Rocky Carroll and David McCallum recently signed deals to return.
TERRA NOVA (FOX) - Jason O'Mara ("Life on Mars") is in talks to topline the Steven Spielberg-produced drama, about "an ordinary family embarking on an incredible journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a small part of a massive experiment to save the human race." He'd play Jim Shannon, "a devoted father with a checkered past, guides his family through this new land of limitless beauty, mystery and terror." Alex Graves is helming the pilot to the project, which was ordered directly to series. Craig Silverstein and Kelly Marcel are the co-creators. 20th Century Fox Television, Chernin Entertainment, DreamWorks Television and Kapital Entertainment are co-producing.
