BIG LOVE (HBO) - Emmy-nominee Gregory Itzin ("24") has been cast on the show's fifth season, due early next year. He'll play Senator Richard Dwyer, "the Republican Majority Leader of the Utah State Senate - of which Bill (Bill Paxton) is now a member." Production begins this week.

DETROIT 1-8-7 (ABC) - Rochelle Aytes ("The Forgotten") has landed a recurring role on the freshman drama, about a Detroit police squad as seen through the eyes of a documentary crew. She'll play Alice Williams, "a smart, sexy, ambitious lawyer in the Wayne County prosecutor's office."

GLEE (FOX) - Ryan Murphy is reportedly close to signing a four-year, $24-million overall deal with producer 20th Century Fox Television. The pact would mark one of the largest of its type, behind only J.J. Abrams and Seth MacFarlane, and would also see the prolific writer/producer/director share in the show's music, touring and merchandising revenues - all retroactive to its launch - as well as the profits from the proposed "Glee" Broadway musical.

THE GOOD WIFE (CBS) - Michael Ealy ("FlashForward") is the latest addition to the show's second season. He'll play Derrick Bond, "the head of the D.C. firm that's merging with Will and Diane's cash-strapped outfit," in at least 10 episodes. His character is further detailed as "casual, soft-spoken attorney whose egalitarian beliefs seem at odds with Will and Diane's self-serving practices. However, under his pleasant and unassuming exterior, he has a steel-trap mind and can outmaneuver his most cunning adversaries and/or associates; deeply impressed with Alicia's quiet competence, he becomes her newest mentor."

LOVE BITES (NBC) - Tracy Poust and Jon Kinnally ("Ugly Betty") have been tapped as the new showrunners of the upcoming anthology series, which was recently pushed to midseason. Said development is the result of a two-year, seven-figure overall deal the pair recently signed with producer Universal Media Studios. They'll take over for creator Cindy Chupack, who's stepped down from said role but will continue as an executive producer. Shelley McCrory and Marc Buckland likewise serve as executive producers on the series.

RUNNING WILDE (FOX) - David Cross is set to recur alongside his former "Arrested Development" co-star Will Arnett on the upcoming comedy, about a filthy-rich, immature playboy (Arnett) trying desperately to win (or buy) the heart of his childhood sweetheart (Keri Russell), the uber-liberal humanitarian who got away. Cross will play the boyfriend of Russell's character in at least seven of the 13 episodes. He'll take over for Andrew Daly, a regular on NBC's midseason comedy "The Paul Reiser Show," who filled said role in the original pilot.
