ALL SIGNS OF DEATH (HBO) - British actor Ben Whishaw ("Bright Star") has been tapped for the lead role in the drama pilot, about "an inveterate twenty-something slacker who stumbles into a career as a crime scene cleaner, only to find himself entangled with a murder mystery, a femme fatale and the loose ends of his own past." He'll play said slacker, Webster Filmore Goodhue, in the project, which is based on Charlie Huston's crime noir novel "The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death." Alan Ball is directing and executive producing the hour from a script by Huston.
THE BORGIAS (Showtime) - Lotte Verbeek ("Nothing Personal") is the latest addition to the period drama, about the notorious 15th century Italian family of the same name. She'll play Giulia Farnese, "the young mistress of Rodrigo Borgia (Jeremy Irons), otherwise known as Pope Alexander VI, one of history's most infamous pontiffs." Also signing on is Elyes Gabel ("Casualty") as Djem, "a Turkish man sent by the Sultan of Turkey to be murdered by the Borgia family." They join the previously cast David Oakes, Holliday Grainger, Colm Feore, Francois Arnaud, Joanne Whalley and Derek Jacobi. James Flynn, John Weber, Michael Hirst, Neil Jordan and Sheila Hockin are the executive producers.
FALLING SKIES (TNT) - Sarah Carter ("Shark") has joined the cast of the upcoming sci-fi drama, about a group of soldiers and civilians struggling against an occupying alien force. She'll play a motorcycle gang member who helps them, including Tom (Noah Wyle), a former college professor, and Anne (Moon Bloodgood), a therapist. Robert Rodat is behind the DreamWorks Television-based project, which also stars Drew Roy, Jessy Schram, Maxim Knight, Peter Shinkoda and Seychelle Gabriel.
HUMAN TARGET (FOX) - Indira Varma ("Rome") has landed a role on the show's sophomore season. She'll play Ilsa, "a sophisticated, sexy, driven and witty widow, a female Christopher Chance who doesn't take any nonsense from anyone," who ultimately takes charge of the team of security experts. The series returns on Friday nights this fall.
OUTLAW (NBC) - Melora Hardin ("The Office") has landed a recurring role on the freshman drama, about a U.S. Supreme Court justice (Jimmy Smits) who quits the bench and returns to private practice. She'll play Claire Sax, "a powerful senior partner in an elite law firm and love interest to Garza." Gina Gershon appeared in said role in the original pilot. Meanwhile, Hardin is set to reprise her role of Jan Levinson on "The Office" in a multi-episode arc. No specifics about her return were given.
