When the words "I do" are not in your fianc's vocabulary, brace yourself for the worst kind of relationship reality check possible. On Friday, August 20 at 10pm ET/PT, TLC will air the one hour special LEFT AT THE ALTAR, featuring real life accounts about brides and grooms literally jilted at the altar.
Nicole, 27, was waiting for Mr. Right when on vacation, the man of her dreams appears. Minor problem- they don't live on the same continent. Months into a long-distance relationship, she's about to have the wedding of her dreams when the best man tells her that the groom isn't coming. With unexpected positivity, she proceeds with the reception and years later, finds the real man of her dreams.
Cyndi, 23, wasn't looking for love when she got swept into a whirlwind romance. After winning a trip to Hawaii, Cyndi decided to take her new boyfriend, where he surprised her by proposing at sunrise. A year later and hours before the wedding is scheduled to begin, her fianc calls it off, takes his passport, and leaves to spend some time at their honeymoon resort alone.
Single dad Michael found love when he least expected it. However, love also took an unexpected turn when after planning a romantic wedding in Ireland, the "I do's" turned to "I don't" shortly after the ceremony.
Valerie was still young when she fell in love with Kyle and left her hometown to be with him. Between Valerie's disappointed mother and her own last minute doubts taking over, Valerie staged a fake hospital emergency and left Kyle at the altar. After a year apart, she realized what she was missing and after reconciling, they've planned a second wedding for this upcoming October.
