Development Update: Monday, September 13
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

HUNG (HBO) - Lennie James has been upped to series regular for the show's third season. He'll continue on as Charlie, a pimp who offers advice to Tanya (Jane Adams) in said profession. No other details were given.

OUTNUMBERED (FOX) - The network is revisiting the U.K. comedy, about two parents who are overwhelmed by their three kids. Barbara Wallace and Thomas R. Wolfe are spearheading the new incarnation, which has a pilot commitment. FOX and Media Rights Captial took a stab at bringing Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin's comedy to the States in 2008 with Ken Marino and Brooke Bloom in the lead roles. That version was directed by Bryan Gordon from a script by Larry Levin. 20th Century Television and Chernin Entertainment are co-producing the revised take, with Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope executive producing alongside Jimmy Mulville of Hat Trick Productions.

TERRA NOVA (FOX) - Stephen Lang ("Avatar") is reportedly close to joining the cast of the upcoming drama while David Fury has departed as an executive producer. The former is in talks to play Frank Taylor, "the charismatic and ruthless leader of the Terra Nova settlement." As for Fury, his exit is billed as for creative differences, leaving Brannon Braga as the project's sole writing executive producer. No replacement is expected to be made. Production on the pilot is set to begin next month in Australia.

UNTITLED KOURTNEY KANG/JOE KELLY PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Kourtney Kang and Joe Kelly ("How I Met Your Mother") are set to re-team for a new comedy at the Alphabet about "a couple's exploration of quality of life both before and after kids." Said half-hour, which comes from 20th Century Fox Television, is billed as a multi-camera hybrid (a la "Mother") and has a penalty attached should it not go to pilot. Kang and Kelly previously co-wrote (alongside Carter Bays and Craig Thomas) "Livin' on a Prayer," a comedy pilot for CBS which ultimately didn't move forward.
