"There is no better way to celebrate the year's flagship TV event for kids than with a medley by first-time KCA performers The Black Eyed Peas," said Marjorie Cohn, President, Original Programming and Development, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group and Executive Producer of the show. "The larger-than-life energy they will deliver on the stage will make for an unforgettable evening."
The Black Eyed Peas - will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo and apl.de.ap - have always been considered innovators ever since emerging out of the West Coast underground rap scene in the 1990s, evolving into one of the most popular contemporary pop and R&B groups in the world. To date, they have sold 29 million records worldwide (plus over 30 million digital tracks), three million tickets and headlined over 300 different tour dates in 29 different countries. Their recently released sixth full-length album, The Beginning taps into the dance-club energy perfected on their 2009 album, The E.N.D., with a sophisticated pop and electronic music palette. The E.N.D sold more than 11 million copies worldwide and entered the Billboard Top 200 Chart at number-one outperforming their previous album, Monkey Business. It yielded five Top 10 singles (the first album to do so in 20 years), spent an entire year in the Billboard Top 200 Chart and earned the group three new Grammy Awards, bringing their total, to date, to six Grammy Awards.
