JUNE SYFY SATURDAY ORIGINAL MOVIES KICK OFF WITH "RED FACTION: ORIGINS" PREMIERE ON SATURDAY, JUNE 4

MONTH ALSO FEATURES "ICE ROAD TERROR" (JUNE 11) AND "SWAMP SHARK" (JUNE 25)

NEW YORK - May 12, 2011 - June Syfy Saturday Original Movies begin with the highly anticipated premiere of Red Faction: Origins on Saturday, June 4, at 9PM (ET/PT).

The Movie Month continues with a murderous prehistoric monster in Ice Road Terror on June 11 and a ravenous killer shark in Swamp Shark on June 25.

Red Faction: Origins

Part of a first-of-its-kind transmedia partnership with worldwide game developer and distributor THQ, Red Faction: Origins will bridge the narrative between 2009's hit game Red Faction: Guerrilla and the newest title in the gaming franchise, Red Faction: Armageddon, which will be released June 7.

Red Faction: Origins stars Brian J. Smith (Stargate Universe), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Kate Vernon (Battlestar Galactica), Danielle Nicolet (The Starter Wife), Gareth David-Lloyd (Torchwood), Tamzin Merchant (The Tudors) and Devon Graye (Dexter) in the epic adventures of the Mason family, Martian colonists battling for survival and freedom.

In Red Faction: Origins, Jake Mason (Smith) embarks on a dangerous quest to bring justice to the vengeful enemies that killed his mother and kidnapped his sister. Jake is the son of Alec Mason (Patrick), the rebel hero who led the colonies of Mars to freedom.

Directed by Peabody-Award winner Michael Nankin (Battlestar Galactica), the Red Faction: Origins screenplay was written by Andrew Kreisberg (Warehouse 13), based on a story developed by THQ Director, Fiction Development Paul DeMeo (The Rocketeer) and THQ Executive Vice President, Core Games, Danny Bilson (The Sentinel). Kreisberg also serves as executive producer.

Ice Road Terror

In Ice Road Terror, premiering Saturday, June 11, at 9PM (ET/PT), ice road truckers confront more than thin ice when diamond mine blasting awakens a mythological prehistoric predator - the biggest reptile ever found in the Arctic. Plus it's very hungry with an insatiable appetite for humans. Now only the truckers can stop the monster before it reaches civilization and begins pigging out. Michael Hogan (Battlestar Galactica), Brea Grant (Heroes) and Ty Olsson (Battlestar Galactica) star in Ice Road Terror, a production of ARO Entertainment.

Swamp Shark

In Swamp Shark, premiering Saturday, June 25, at 9PM (ET/PT), a killer shark is illegally released into a river in a remote Louisiana town. The crooked sheriff responsible blames a local family, who must battle the swamp shark (with the help of a mysterious stranger) to clear their names and prevent more townspeople from being torn to shreds. Robert Davi (Die Hard), Kristy Swanson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and D.B. Sweeney (The Event) star in Swamp Shark, a production of Bullet Films.
