New York, NY - August 22, 2011 - MTV today announced that international music superstar and two-time 2011 VMA nominee, Pitbull is the next artist to bring the heat to the "2011 MTV Video Music Awards" stage. He will perform the worldwide #1 smash "Give Me Everything" from his critically acclaimed album Planet Pit. The energetic performance will feature special guests Grammy nominated R & B soul-singer Ne-Yo, and up-and-coming songstress Nayer as they bring the Miami club scene to the Nokia Theater and are sure to get viewers on their feet!
Additionally, international pop star, Jessie J, known for her hit "Price Tag" featuring B.o.B will serve as the house artist for this year's show. With her distinct voice and catchy lyrics, Jessie J will wow and entertain the VMA audience. The UK native, whose album has reached Top 5 in numerous markets and who has received over 170 million views on YouTube will support Katy Perry on the final leg of her California Dreams Tour this fall.
Finally, MTV adds Nicki Minaj, Taylor Lautner, Drake, Joe Jonas, Jared Leto, and JB Smoove from HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," who will bring their comedic and musical talents to the presenter stage and join the great line-up of previously announced presenters: Selena Gomez, Seth Rogen, Kim Kardashian, Rick Ross, and Odd Future.
Pitbull joins the previously announced 2011 VMA performers including Lady Gaga, Adele, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, and Young The Giant. The "2011 MTV Video Music Awards" will air live from Nokia Theater L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 9PM (Live ET/Tape delayed PT.)
Viewers can vote for general VMA categories, including "Best New Artist," by visiting vma.mtv.com online or m.mtv.com on their mobile phone. In addition, Best New Artist text voting is open to all wireless carrier subscribers by texting BNA to 66333. Voting continues through the show, live on August 28th. Verizon subscribers can vote on all categories via SMS by texting VMA to 66333 (standard message rates apply.)
The 2011 "MTV Video Music Awards" will be available to a potential viewing audience of more than 1.2 billion people via MTV's global network of more than 60 channels reaching more than 640 million households around the world as well as through syndication. In addition, its convergent programming and content will reach the entire interactive community, via MTV's nearly 200 digital media properties around the world.
The 2010 VMAs averaged a 10.0 P12-34 rating and 11.4 million total viewers, marking the network's best deliveries for any MTV telecast since the 2002 VMAs (8/29/02) as well as making it the third most watched telecast in MTV's history.
