STAKES ARE HIGHER THAN EVER AS A NEW SEASON OF ANIMAL PLANET'S "SWAMP WARS" PROTECTS SOUTH FLORIDA FROM ANIMAL INVADERS

-- SWAMP WARS Emerges for a Bold Second Season On November 6 With Shocking Outbreaks from Nile Monitors Lizards to Africanized Bees --

(New York, NY) - Animal Planet is bringing back SWAMP WARS for more high-stakes drama as the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's Venom One unit carries on its battle against the lethal animals that threaten South Florida. From the unit rescuing a family driven to the brink by angry Africanized bees buzzing inside their walls to saving lives worldwide by delivering anti-venom to victims of deadly snakebites, the ride is only getting wilder!SWAMP WARS follows this brave team as it protects Florida and its native species from an imminent swamp invasion of the worst kind with the potential to change the face of Miami as we know it. After season one of the successful series delivered 856,000 viewers this spring, SWAMP WARS returns for a second season on Sunday, November 6, at 9pm ET/PT, with six all-new episodes and another set of six episodes slated to air in 2012.

In the new season of SWAMP WARS, viewers can watch the Venom One unit crisscross South Florida when it realizes the region is in the middle of a Tegu Lizard outbreak, spreading rapidly and in need of immediate control. But could there be an even bigger invasive lizard problem than the Tegu's with the growing threat of the Nile Monitor? These powerful beasts, native to Africa, are intelligent, adaptive, vicious reptiles, and they grow up to seven-feet-long. In Miami, they are roaming into people's backyards, having house pets for dinner, and threatening Florida's delicate ecosystem - it's up to the team to stop them. And it wouldn't be SWAMP WARS without a familiar, invasive foe that continues to be a big job for the unit in more ways than one. Giant Burmese pythons, a species that can grow up to 19 feet-long, threaten the human and pet population of South Florida on a regular basis, and this season, Venom One challenges them to a showdown that just might draw the border between suburbia and the Everglades once and for all.

Not even Florida's oceans are safe in this season of SWAMP WARS as venomous lionfish are proliferating in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, and the Venom team suits up to dive in and tackle this newfound menace from another land. Later in the season, a mystery hits the unit when an unidentified woman stumbles into a hospital with fang marks and then collapses into a coma. The team races against the clock to discover what kind of snake bit her, so she can be treated. With only a business card and a phone number on a Post-it note as potential leads, the Venom team and law enforcement must work together to capture this elusive snake if they hope to save a woman's life. One thing is certain: the SWAMP WARS are never-ending, and the Venom One unit always is up to the challenge.

SWAMP WARS is produced for Animal Planet by 2C Media, Inc. For 2C Media, Inc., Chris Sloan and Carla Kaufman Sloan are the executive producers and Calvin Simmons is co-executive producer. Erin Wanner is the executive producer for Animal Planet
