- Host Dominick Misino, Internationally Acclaimed Crisis Negotiator,
Shares His Gift For Defusing Explosive Situations -
(Silver Spring, MD) - How would you react if fate put you in the wrong place at the wrong time and you were taken hostage? While nobody wants to face this dire question, it is a real-life scenario that thousands confront every year and the impact changes their lives forever. Fortunately there are teams of professional hostage negotiators that dedicate their careers to bringing these frightening ordeals to a safe conclusion. HOSTAGE: DO OR DIE profiles six harrowing tales from the actual hostages who survived and the negotiators who saved them. HOSTAGE: DO OR DIE is hosted by internationally acclaimed crisis negotiator Dominick Misino, who began his career as an NYPD sniper but learned he had a gift for defusing explosive situations with words rather than bullets. HOSTAGE: DO OR DIE premieres Thursday, December 1 at 10 PM ET on Investigation Discovery.
"Life and death situations where the power of words is put to the ultimate test are the foundation of HOSTAGE: DO OR DIE," said Henry Schleiff, general manager and president of Investigation Discovery. "And the intensity of these dramatic stories is enhanced with the series' top-notch production value, which elevates the reenactments to a theatrical level unmatched for true-crime documentaries."
HOSTAGE: DO OR DIE features a wide-spectrum of stories from a deranged murderer trapping a clerk in a grocery store to a young gunman holding 80 students hostage in a California high school to even the Atlanta FBI headquarters being taken over by a paranoid schizophrenic threatening to kill nine employees. Dominick Misino guides viewers through each episode of HOSTAGE: DO OR DIE and provides valuable insight from his vast experience as a pioneer of modern day hostage negotiating techniques. Misino is a 22-year veteran of the NYPD, where he served as the primary hostage negotiator for his last 6 years on the force. As founder and president of the International Association of Hostage Negotiators, Misino currently teaches law enforcement agencies worldwide how to improve their crisis intervention plans and effectively limit tragic events through successful negotiations.
