|
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:
Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
ARMY WIVES (Lifetime) - The cable channel has ordered 10 additional episodes of its flagship drama, bringing its sixth season total to 23 installments. Said extension is in lieu of a formal seventh season order as all of the cast members' contracts expire at the end of the upcoming season. While essentially a side step of negotiations for new contracts, it's understood the network has offered the cast members a raise of $10,000 per episode - an increase of 10-20% from their previous five-figure salaries - for their additional episodes. The development would also postpone co-star Sally Pressman's talent deal with NBC as well as limit Catherine Bell's availability for a follow up to TNT's "Good Morning, Killer" or Hallmark's "Good Witch" franchise. (Deadline.com)
BFF (TBS) - Barry Bostwick and Julie Hagerty has both been cast in the comedy pilot, about Mark (Jay Malone), a family man who quits his day job and returns to the neighborhood where he grew up and reunites with his former best friend, Roland (David Neher). They'll play Roland's parents, with whom he still lives at home. Ben Wexler, Ross Novie and Jay Rondot are all behind the half-hour, which comes from Conaco Productions and Warner Horizon Television. (Deadline.com)
ON WE GO (USA) - Andrea Martin is the latest addition to the comedy pilot, about Jasper (Nathan Lane), an unlucky actor whose Broadway aspirations must be put on hold when his father's (Ken Jenkins) health takes a turn for worse, forcing him to return to his Texas hometown. She'll guest as Peggy, Jasper's agent. Cheyenne Jackson, Caroline Rhea, Richard Kohnke and Laura Bell Bundy also star in the Universal Cable Productions-based half-hour, from writer/director Douglas McGrath. (Deadline.com)
TRUE JUSTICE (ReelzChannel, New!) - The Steven Seagal-led series has found a U.S. home at the cable channel. Seagal plays Elijah Kane, the leader of "an undercover team of Seattle based cops who target major criminals in the North Western territory, taking them down with their own unique brand of brutal street justice." The six films produced to date - "Deadly Crossing," "Dark Vengeance," "Street Wars," "Lethal Justice," "Brotherhood" and "Urban Warfare" - will be formatted into 13 hour-long episodes due to premiere in March. Meghan Ory (Juliet Saunders, a top cop and has some secrets of her own), Sarah Lind (Sarah Montgomery, a stunning addition to the task force), Warren Christie (Brett Radner, tackles the streets in his hard-assed approach) and William "Big Sleeps" Stewart (Andre Mason, Kane's right hand man) also co-star in the project, from Sojo Productions, Voltage Pictures and Steamroller Productions. Seagal, Nicolas Chartier and Phillip B. Goldfine are the executive producers with Keoni Waxman serving as co-executive producer and director. Guest stars include Tia Carrere, George Takei, Rachel Luttrell and Gil Bellows. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Sara Canning will guest on "Supernatural" as the latest lust interest for Jensen Ackles's Dean (TVLine.com); Gloria Estefan is in talks to play Santana's (Naya Rivera) mother on "Glee" (EW.com); Ernie Hudson will play the father of Cress Williams's Lavon Hayes on "Hart of Dixie" (TVLine.com); Ryan McPartlin will visit "Hot in Cleveland" in an episode that also marks the return of Susan Lucci (TVLine.com); plus Kevin Nealon and Martin Mull are the latest actors set to stop by "Franklin & Bash" this season (EOnline.com).
