LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The Disney/ABC Television Group kicked off day six of the TCA Winter Press Tour with panels for its cable offerings, including executive sessions with ABC Family President Michael Riley and Disney Channels Worldwide President/Chief Creative Officer Gary Marsh. Here's some quick hits of the notable developments:
-- "The Nine Lives of Chloe King" may return in TV movie form. "We never talk about cancelling shows at ABC Family," Riley said. "It's very much about we always make sure that we air all of our productions because for us it's very much a long-term view. Obviously, we love all of our shows, and "Chloe King" is such a great example of just an amazing show... we are on the verge of actually putting a movie into development." He added, that "the hope is that it will [follow up on the finale]. Obviously, we're just putting it into development. So the idea is very much to capitalize on the storytelling that's already been in place."
-- Original movie "Mistletones" will anchor the next "25 Days of Christmas" stunt. "Who wouldn't want to watch a movie about dueling caroling teams figuring out what to do during the holiday period?" Riley said about the project.
-- White Tiger, Iron Fist, Power Man and Nova are among the featured heroes in "Ultimate Spider-Man." "The new 'Spider Man' will feature a teenage Peter Parker played by Drake Bell," Marsh said about the Disney XD series, premiering on April 1. "But this time, he's no longer going it alone. Rather, as the newest member of Nick Fury's S.H.I.E.L.D. organization, he finds himself on a team with four other teenage Marvel superheroes. So he's got White Tiger, Iron Fist, Power Man, and Nova. Now, this has implications for Spidey, of course, because it means for the first time, while he's losing his independence, he's gaining a cadre of crime fighting cohorts."
-- Look for two other animated series, "Motorcity" and "TRON: Uprising," on Disney XD later this year. The former, ordered back in October of 2010, is due in June while the latter, likewise nearly two years in the making, will roll out as a 10-part micro series in April before premiering as a full-fledged series in June.
-- And finally, Disney Channel proper will debut its new animated series "Gravity Falls" in June. "This will be a great companion piece to "Phineas and Ferb" when it launches in June, the same smart wit, the same clever sensibility," Riley said about series. "Very excited about this."
