Pasadena, CA - January 14, 2011 - AMC announced today, from the Television Critics Association (TCA) Press Tour in Pasadena, California, an impressive programming slate of film favorites and movie franchise events, including:
JANUARY
· "AMC CAN'T GET ENOUGH" DIE HARD
In a three-night event, AMC airs three Die Hard films Monday, January 16 through Wednesday, January 18 including Die Hard (Monday), Die Hard 2 (Tuesday) and Die Hard: With a Vengeance (Wednesday). Each film airs twice, back-to-back, starting at 8pm ET.
· "AMC's CRAZY ABOUT" CLINT
"AMC's Crazy About" Clint features back-to-back westerns starring screen legend Clint Eastwood on Saturday, January 21, including in High Plains Drifter (1973) at 2:30pm ET, Joe Kidd (1972) at 5pm ET and Unforgiven (1993) at 7pm ET.
· AMC PREMIERE EVENT: KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
On Sunday, January 22 at 8pm ET, AMC airs the television premiere of the Director's Cut version of Kingdom of Heaven (2005), starring Orlando Bloom, Eva Green and Liam Neeson.
· "AMC's CRAZY ABOUT" SEAGAL
This "Crazy About" programming event on Saturday, January 28 kicks off with Steven Seagal's Under Seige (1992) at 8pm ET, followed by Hard to Kill (1990) at 10:30pm ET and Exit Wounds (2001) at 12:30am ET.
· "AMC's CRAZY ABOUT" SWAYZE
Beginning Sunday, January 29 at 8pm ET, AMC airs three consecutive films starring the late Patrick Swayze including Road House (1989), Red Dawn (1984) and Ghost (1990).
FEBRUARY
· "AMC CELEBRATES" Saturday Night Fever
On Saturday, February 4, AMC honors the 35th Anniversary of the iconic 1977 film, starring John Travolta, Karen Lynn Gorney and Barry Miller, with a limited break airing at 8pm ET and a consecutive airing at 10:30pm ET.
· "AMC CELEBRATES" E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
One of the most beloved films of all time, starring Henry Thomas, Drew Barrymore and Peter Coyote, celebrates its 30th Anniversary with back-to-back airings on Sunday, February 5 at 8pm ET.
· STEPHEN KING WEEK
AMC kicks off a week dedicated to renowned writer Stephen King beginning Monday, February 6, including back-to-back airings starting at 8pm ET of the films Thinner (Monday), Cujo (Tuesday), Pet Sematary (Wednesday) and Christine (Thursday).
· "AMC CELEBRATES" Blade Runner
AMC pays homage to the 30th Anniversary of the Ridley Scott-directed film, starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer and Sean Young, with two consecutive airings on Friday, February 10 at 8pm ET (limited break) and 10:30pm ET.
· "THE WALKING DEAD" MARATHON
Catch up on the smash hit series with a marathon of episodes from the series' first season on Saturday, February 11 at 8:00pm ET and second season on Sunday, February 12 beginning at 1:30pm ET. Sunday's marathon leads into brand new episodes from the critically acclaimed second season at 9pm ET followed by the return of the live after show,"Talking Dead," at midnight ET.
· "ACTION WEEK"
AMC airs two action flicks back-to-back each night at 8pm ET beginning Monday, February 13 through Thursday, February 16, including the popular films Hard to Kill, Under Siege, Die Hard: With a Vengeance, Die Hard, Eraser, Commando, The Fugitive and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
· AMC PREMIERE EVENT: V For Vendetta
On Sunday, February 19 at 5pm ET, AMC airs the 2006 film, starring Oscar(R) winner Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving.
· AMC PREMIERE EVENT Double Feature: Coach Carter & Two for the Money AMC airs a double feature on Friday, February 25 with the films Coach Carter (2005), starring Samuel L. Jackson, at 8pm ET followed by Two for the Money (2005), starring Matthew McConaughey and Al Pacino, at 11pm ET.
· The Godfather 40th Anniversary Week
As the exclusive cable home of The Godfather trilogy, AMC celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the award-winning film with back-to-back airings of The Godfather (1972) and The Godfather II (1974) from Monday, February 27 through Saturday, March 3.
The Godfather airs Monday and Wednesday at 8pm and midnight ET, and The Godfather II airs Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm and 12:30am ET. On Friday, all three Godfather films air back-to-back beginning at 9:30am through 10pm. The celebratory week culminates on Saturday with AMC's premiere of the digitally-restored version of The Godfather Saga (time TBD).
