SYFY ELEVATES CHRIS REGINA TO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, PROGRAMMING
NEW YORK - January 19, 2012 - Syfy has promoted Chris Regina, who has played a significant role in the channel's brand and programming growth, to Senior Vice President, Programming, it was announced today by Thomas Vitale, Executive Vice President, Programming and Original Movies, to whom he reports.
Based in the New York office, Regina was named Vice President, Programming, Syfy, in March 2006.
Said Vitale: "With his creativity and encyclopedic knowledge of the industry, Chris has been one of the driving forces in the tremendous success of Syfy over the past 14 years. We're delighted to reward his many contributions through this well-earned deserved promotion."
Regina's new duties will include the oversight of acquisitions of studio-distributed theatrical films and series. He will also continue to manage Syfy's scheduling and administration department, while continuing to work on the development and supervision of many popular Syfy Saturday Original Movies, such as the upcoming St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun and Philadelphia Experiment.
Regina joined Syfy in 1998 as Director, Scheduling and Administration. Prior to that, he was Program Director at WGTW-TV in Philadelphia, where he oversaw all program scheduling and acquisitions as well as off-air marketing and promotion.
Regina graduated in1995 from Rowan University with a B.A. in Communications.
