STARS OF UPCOMING DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE "LET IT SHINE" OPEN THE 43RD ANNUAL NAACP IMAGE AWARDS NOMINEES' LUNCHEON WITH SPECTACULAR PERFORMANCE
Tyler James Williams, Coco Jones and Trevor Jackson, the stars of the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie, "Let It Shine," delivered a rousing performance that opened the 43rd Annual NAACP Image Awards Nominees' Luncheon today at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Debuting two songs from the movie (set to premiere in June 2012 on Disney Channel), the multi-talented trio performed the contemporary hip-hop/rap and gospel number "Let It Shine," accompanied by an 18-member choir and dancers. Showcasing her vocal versatility, 14 year-old Coco Jones, first discovered through Radio Disney's "N.B.T." ("Next BIG Thing") musical talent showcase, also performed the movie's soaring "Good to Be Home." Jones' tour de force continued with an
a cappella performance of "At Last," as tribute to her musical inspiration, Etta James.
A modern day story inspired by the ghostwritten love letters of Cyrano de Bergerac, "Let it Shine" is set in the world of hip-hop, rap and gospel music and expresses the importance of staying true to oneself. Geared towards kids, tweens and families, the story follows a shy, talented musician who pens romantic hip-hop verses only to stand idly by as they're delivered to the girl of his dreams by a proxy, his best friend.
