By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

CHICAGO FIRE (NBC) - Taylor Kinney ("Trauma") has scored a lead role on the pilot, an action-driven drama about the complex and heroic men and women of the Chicago Fire Department. He'll play Kelly Severide ("built like a strong safety; his hair is close-cropped; and his demeanor is more Navy Seal than Old Navy"), a Lieutenant in the show's Squad 3. He joins the previously cast Eamonn Walker in the Universal Television-based hour, which Jeffrey Nachmanoff is directing from a script by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt. (Deadline.com)

DILFS (NBC) - Zach Cregger ("Friends With Benefits") has been tapped as one of the leads in the comedy pilot, about a trio of thirty-something guys enjoying the adventures of parenting despite the fact they haven't grown up themselves. He'll play Nick ("a laid-back programmer/super dad struggling to balance work, marriage and two kids"), one of said men. Charlie Grandy is behind the multi-camera project, to be directed by Scott Ellis for Universal Television. (Deadline.com)

THE GILDED LILYS (ABC) - Brían F. O'Byrne ("Prime Suspect") has joined the cast of the pilot, a period drama revolving around the family who owns New York's first true luxury hotel, the staff who work there and the people who pass through. He'll play Edwin Falterhaus Lily ("late 40's, serious, tidy, and socially ungifted"), the man behind the Lillian Hotel. Blythe Danner, Madeline Zima and Sarah Bolger also star in the K.J. Steinberg-penned hour, to be directed by Brian Kirk. ABC Studios is producing. (Deadline.com)

GOLDEN BOY (CBS) - Stella Maeve has scored a role on the pilot, a drama which tracks one man's (Ryan Phillippe) meteoric rise from uniform cop at age 26 to police commissioner at 34. She'll play his younger sister Agnes ("cute, punky, awful skinny"). Chi McBride and Kevin Alejandro also star in the Warner Bros. Television-based hour, from director Richard Shepard and writer Nick Wootton. (Deadline.com)

RAY DONOVAN (Showtime) - Peter Jacobson ("House") is the latest addition to the drama pilot, about the title character (Liev Schreiber), Hollywood's best professional "fixer" - the one called in to solve the complicated, confidential and controversial problems of the city's elite. He'll recur as Lee Drexler, "a hard-driving, foul-mouthed wheeler-dealer who relies on Ray as Mr. Fixit whenever his high-profile clients get into hot water." Director Allen Coulter and writer Ann Biderman are behind the project, which also stars Dash Mihok, Eddie Marsan, Elliott Gould, Jon Voight, Katherine Moennig, Paula Malcomson and Pooch Hall. (Deadline.com)

THE UNPROFESSIONAL (ABC) - Mary McCormack ("In Plain Sight") has booked the lead role on the comedy pilot, about Hilary Pfeiffer-Dunne, a powerful female executive who suddenly finds herself as a stay-at-home mom with teenage kids and with no idea how to function in her new role. She'll play said woman ("attractive, intense, emotional, overachiever") in the Kari Lizer-penned half-hour, which comes from Warner Bros. Television. (EW.com)

THE WIDOW DETECTIVE (CBS) - Conor Leslie and Natalie Martinez are the first to be cast in the drama pilot, about Denny Brennan, a decorated detective who has lost three partners in the line of duty and serves as the male figure in the lives of his fallen partners' families. Martinez will play Maya Davis ("28, Hispanic, a knockout"), one of said widows, who has a five-year-old son that looks up to Denny. Leslie then is presumably set as Amanda, the eldest daughter of widow Jill Jaworski, who's set to marry a young detective who works with Denny. Davis Guggenheim is directing the CBS Television Studios-based hour from a script by David Hubbard. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - "Blue Mountain State" co-creator Eric Falconer confirmed Spike TV has canceled the comedy series after three seasons (Twitter.com); and Lucy Lawless will join Elisabeth Moss and Holly Hunter in Sundance Channel's upcoming seven-part mini-series "Top of the Lake," from co-directors Garth Davis and Jane Campion (TVLine.com).
