Production Begins In New York Next Week

NEW YORK, NY (February 29, 2012) - Emmy and Golden Globe(R) award-winning actor Beau Bridges and Emmy Award winner Margo Martindale have joined the SHOWTIME drama pilot MASTERS OF SEX. Bridges will play University Chancellor Barton Scully, William Masters' boss, while Martindale will guest star as Miss Horchow, Masters' very by the book secretary. Directed by Academy Award(R) nominee John Madden ("Shakespeare in Love"), the pilot will begin production in New York next week. Acclaimed actors Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan were recently cast as the leads - 1960's human sexuality pioneers William Masters and Virginia Johnson. Actress Caitlin Fitzgerald ("It's Complicated," "Gossip Girl") has also been cast as William Masters' wife Libby.

MASTERS OF SEX chronicles the lives and the intriguing, unusual relationship between Masters and Johnson, the pioneers into the science of human sexuality, whose research touched off the sexual revolution. The series is an adaptation of Thomas Maier's book Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, The Couple Who Taught America How To Love. Michelle Ashford ("The Pacific"), Judith Verno, and Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly ("Justified") are executive producers. Michael Sheen and Tammy Rosen will serve as producers. MASTERS OF SEX is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

In an acclaimed career that spans film, television and theater, Beau Bridges has starred in countless award-winning projects. Over his storied sixty year career, he has been the recipient of 14 Emmy Award nominations, with three wins, and four Golden Globe nominations, with two wins. His television credits include "Brothers & Sisters," "Stargate: SG-1," "My Name is Earl," "White Collar," "The Closer," "Desperate Housewives," "Stargate: Atlantis," "The Agency," and the mini-series and movies "Into The West," "10.5: Apocalypse," "The Second Civil War," "Without Warning: The James Brady Story," "Hidden in America," "Kissinger and Nixon," and "Out of the Ashes" on SHOWTIME. His film credits include "The Fabulous Baker Boys," "The Descendants," "Norma Rae," "The Good German," "Spinning Into Butter," "Jerry Maguire," "Charlotte's Web" and "The Ballad of Jack and Rose."

Emmy-winning and Tony(R) Award-nominated character actress Margo Martindale has appeared in over sixty films, in addition to many memorable television roles. She won the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series Emmy Award last year for her tour de force performance as Mags Bennett, the diabolical matriarch on "Justified." Her recent television credits include roles in "A Gifted Man," "Dexter(R)," "Lonesome Dove," "Medium," "Hung" and "The Riches." Her film credits include "Million Dollar Baby," "Dead Man Walking," "Nobody's Fool," "Lorenzo's Oil," "The Hours," "Secretariat," "Paris, je t'aime" and "Win Win," among others. On Broadway, Martindale received a Tony Award nomination for her riveting portrayal of Big Mama in the revival of Tennessee Williams' "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."
