TLC to Premiere Season 2 of MY BIG FAT GYPSY WEDDING
TLC is bringing back the smash-hit MY BIG FAT GYPSY WEDDING for its second season, premiering Friday, March 23 at 10/9c. The seven one-hour episodes will share more of the outrageous weddings and extravagant celebrations of gypsies and travellers living in Britain today.
The first season of TLC's MY BIG FAT GYPSY WEDDING averaged 1.8 million viewers, and was the #1 ad-supported cable show on Friday night in Prime with key female demos. The series remains the highestrated documentary series of all time on Channel 4 in the UK, where it originates.
In the premiere episode of MY BIG FAT GYPSY WEDDING season 2, 21 year old Dolores - an Irish traveler who lives the high life - is preparing for her wedding day and has commissioned an exotic pineapple-themed outfit for the all important 'night-before'; as well as an extravagant 'cat' dress for the day of her nuptials. Dressmaker Thelma considers these to be the most outrageous requests she has ever had.
Also, Sammi Jo, an Irish traveller who is constantly preoccupied with how she looks, is preparing to compete in a beauty contest for gypsies and travellers. Finally, Nangirl, Margaret, and Bridget are three cousins in direct competition to be the most beautiful on the day of their first holy communion.
TLC is also in production on an American adaptation of the series, which will premiere later this spring.
MY BIG FAT GYPSY WEDDING is produced by Firecracker Films.
