Cartoon Network Picks Up Kids Sketch Comedy Series from Creator Nick Cannon

Cartoon Network announced today that it has picked up an untitled kids sketch comedy series from entertainer Nick Cannon. The series is a live-action, half-hour, sketch comedy show rooted in raw mischief, high energy and slapstick humor. You'll never know what will happen next! Some of the silliest kids you know will make up this wild comedy troupe led by teen stars Jeremy Shada (Adventure Time), Shameik Moore (Joyful Noise), Brandon Soo Hoo (Enders Game, Tropic Thunder), Shauna Case (American Horror Story) and Chanelle Peloso (Level Up).

"Nick Cannon has created a contemporary take on sketch comedy that will launch the next generation of Cartoon Network stars," said Rob Sorcher, chief content officer for Cartoon Network.

"Cartoon Network is the absolute best home for this series and I am thrilled to be working with them. As someone who was given an opportunity in this business at a very young age, I am always looking for ways to help shine the spotlight on up and coming young comedic talent and this show is the perfect platform for these future stars," said Nick Cannon.

Cannon will bring the funny as creator and executive producer along with executive producers Michael Goldman and Scott Tomlinson. The series is being produced by Cartoon Network Studios in association with NCredible Entertainment.

Nick Cannon made his television debut as a teenage sketch comedian on the series All That where he was also a writer, making him the youngest staff writer in television history at the age of 17. Cannon catapulted onto the big screen in 2002 where he appeared alongside Will Smith in Men in Black II before landing a leading role in Drumline. He then hosted Wild 'N Out, a show that he created and executive produced for MTV, which was the network's highest-rated comedy series in its history and aired new episodes for four consecutive seasons. In the fall of 2006, Cannon was featured in the film, Bobby, where his performance earned him a 2007 SAG nomination as well as being the first African American actor to be honored at the world renowned Cannes Film Festival with the "Breakthrough Actor of the Year" award. Most recently Cannon can be seen as the host of NBC's top-rated talent competition America's Got Talent as well as a series regular on Up All Night, which earned him recognition at this year's 2012 NAACP Image Awards for "Outstanding Supporting Actor."

Cartoon Network (CartoonNetwork.com), currently seen in 99 million U.S. homes and 168 countries around the world, is Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.'s ad-supported cable service now available in HD offering the best in original, acquired and classic entertainment for youth and families.
