NEW YORK, May 8, 2012 -- Aziz Ansari returns to Comedy Central in the world television premiere of "Aziz Ansari: Dangerously Delicious," airing Sunday, May 20 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
In the special, filmed at The Warner Theatre in Washington DC, Ansari regales the audience with stories about his frustrations with women, the difference between a rock tour and a stand-up tour, and why he'd almost always rather hang out with his friend Brian. He takes viewers on a hilarious journey of some of life's funniest experiences, including helping his infamous Cousin Harris write a college essay and discovering that rapper 50 Cent does NOT know what a grapefruit is.
The "Aziz Ansari: Dangerously Delicious" extended and uncensored digital album will be released on May 22 by Comedy Central Records.
Leading up to the on-air premiere, the Comedy Central Stand-Up Web site will feature preview clips from the special.
Ansari is currently embarking on a major multi-city stand-up tour, "Buried Alive," which features all new, unreleased material. He also co-stars opposite Amy Poehler in the Emmy(R)-nominated NBC series "Parks and Recreation," currently in its fourth season. Ansari's work on the series has earned him much critical praise, including being named a "Breakout TV Star" by Entertainment Weekly; a "Scene Stealer" by TV Guide Magazine; and 2011's "Funniest Dude in Prime Time" by People Magazine. Rolling Stone recently placed him on the cover of their special comedy issue, labeling him "the funniest man under 30," and Paste Magazine has named him one of the "Top 10 Comedians of the Decade."
Ansari is also keeping busy in the film world and was most recently seen starring in the action comedy "30 Minutes or Less" opposite Jesse Eisenberg and Danny McBride. Next, he will voice a character in the Twentieth Century Fox animated film "Ice Age: Continental Drift," and he also is in production on "End of the World," in which he co-stars with Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, and James Franco. Mandate Pictures also picked up a comedy feature pitch by Ansari and Matt Hubbard, in which he will star alongside Danny McBride. Additionally, Ansari is developing three films for Judd Apatow and Universal with director Jason Woliner. Ansari also appeared in "Get Him to the Greek," "I Love You, Man" and "Observe and Report."
In 2010, Ansari released an hour-long stand-up special on Comedy Central titled "Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening." The special and subsequent DVD/CD were both extremely successful and the album continues to be a mainstay on iTunes' comedy best-seller list. Ansari also has become a regular on the late night circuit with recent memorable appearances on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien," and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
"Aziz Ansari: Dangerously Delicious" is executive produced by Dave Becky, David Miner, and Brian Volk-Weiss; produced by Jay Chapman; and directed by Jason Woliner. On March 20, Ansari self-released his "Dangerously Delicious" special online, offering a direct download/stream for fans for $5 at AzizAnsari.com.
