NEW YORK, NY (MAY 9, 2012) - MTV today announced the first line up of presenters for the "2012 MTV Movie Awards" which includes Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg. These film luminaries will take the stage at TV's most irreverent awards show to present the golden popcorn in 12 all-new and returning categories. The "2012 MTV Movie Awards" will air live on Sunday, June 3rd at 9 p.m. ET/PT from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.
The "2012 MTV Movie Awards" will put the spotlight on the most diverse roster of nominated films in years for the show. Featuring a broad array of movies that resonated with the MTV audience this year, the nominations include both blockbusters and critically acclaimed films such as "Drive," "Like Crazy," "The Descendants," "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," and "My Week with Marilyn." This year's telecast will also be a theatrical throwdown as two queens of comedy, Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, face off versus action star, Jennifer Lawrence, as they all received four nominations each - the most for all female actors nominated. Emma Stone, Emma Watson and Rooney Mara are close on their heels with three nods each and are set to battle in categories like "Best Female Performance." Additionally, there is a clash of the male titans brewing with Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Josh Hutcherson receiving four nominations and going head-to-head in categories like "Best Male Performance," "Best Kiss" and "Best Fight."
MTV fans hold the "Power of the Popcorn" awards in their hands with voting available online via MovieAwards.MTV.com through Saturday, June 2nd. As always, voting for "Movie of the Year" will remain open throughout the live show on Sunday, June 3rd.
On the red carpet, British TV host and fashion expert Louise Roe will return as MTV's international guest correspondent for the "2012 MTV Movie Awards" for the second year in a row. Roe will be chatting up all these A-list celebs on the red carpet as part of a special edition of "MTV At The Movies", bringing audiences outside the US even closer to Hollywood's hottest stars as part of MTV's global coverage of the "2012 MTV Movie Awards." Most recently, Roe served as co-anchor of ABC's 2012 Oscars Red Carpet Show; she also covered the 2011 Royal Wedding for E! and the 2011 MTV EMA red carpet in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This fall, Roe will host the second season of the popular and empowering reality series Plain Jane, which will air across MTV's international channels.
Chart-topping indie-pop group fun. is the first musical performance announced for the "2012 MTV Movie Awards." fun.'s debut single, "We Are Young (feat. Janelle Monáe)," off their latest album, "Some Nights," is currently the unofficial anthem for the MTV audience and dominated the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for six consecutive weeks.
Known as one of the most outrageous and distinctive televised award shows, the "2012 MTV Movie Awards" will feature its trademark individuality and irreverence.
