DISNEY XD PICKS UP A SECOND SEASON OF TOP-RATED SERIES "LAB RATS"
Disney XD has ordered a second season of its #1 series "Lab Rats," a sci-fi comedy about a teenager who lands the ultimate wish fulfillment when he gets three super-human step-siblings; it was announced today by Adam Bonnett, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide.
Created and executive produced by Chris Peterson and Bryan Moore ("That '70s Show"), the series stars Billy Unger as Chase, Spencer Boldman as Adam, Kelli Berglund as Bree, with Tyrel Jackson Williams as Leo and Hal Sparks as Davenport. Recurring are Angel Parker as Tasha and Will Forte as the voice of Eddy.
In making the announcement, Bonnett said, "Chris and Bryan have created a smart comedy about a bionic family with a twist that's tailor made for Disney XD. Our audience has embraced 'Lab Rats' and the talented cast, and we are eager to deliver more comical adventures and clever storytelling in season two."
Following its record-setting launch as Disney XD's #1 original series telecast of all time in Total Viewers and key 6-14 and 9-14 demos, "Lab Rats" is pacing as the network's #1 series ever in Total Viewers (1.1 million), Kids 2-11 (684,000/1.7 rating), Kids 6-14 (719,000/2.0 rating), Kids 6-11 (563,000/2.3 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (489,000/2.0 rating). The series accounts for Disney XD's Top 2 original series telecasts in the network's history in Kids 6-14 and Boys 6-14.*
"Lab Rats" follows Leo, who discovers three teen super-humans - Adam the strong one, Bree the fast one and Chase the smart one, living in a secret underground lab in his house. The trio, eager to leave their confines, convince Leo to take them along to school, where they try to navigate the world of high school life while managing their bionic strengths. Along the way, they help Leo build self confidence while he figures out a way to keep their bionic abilities a secret from the world.
