SHOWTIME PUTS THE "F" IN FATHER'S DAY WITH "THE OTHER F WORD"

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 21, 2012) - From Blink 182's Mark Hoppus, to Flea of The Red Hot Chili Peppers to Rancid's Lars Frederiksen - veteran, chart-busting musicians share their contradictory, heartfelt, at times hilarious tales of fatherhood in THE OTHER F WORD, premiering Thursday, June 14th at 9:00pm ET/PT. The documentary features fascinating, revealing accounts from a generation of men re-defining their roles as fathers while balancing busy careers and family lives.
THE OTHER F WORD is produced, directed and written by Oscar(R)-nominated filmmaker Andrea Blaugrund Nevins (Still Kicking: The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies), produced by Cristan Reilly and executive produced by Jeremy Chilnick (A Day in the Life) and Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me). The film was distributed theatrically by Oscilloscope Laboratories, founded by the late Adam Yauch of The Beastie Boys, a rocker dad, himself.
THE OTHER F WORD is anchored by 40-something dad Jim Lindberg, lead singer of the skate-punk band Pennywise, who grapples with raising his three daughters - usually via Skype - while criss-crossing the globe on tour. His conflict is common to many dads - how to actively parent while negotiating demanding jobs. Lindberg and others share personal anecdotes about their kids and careers and reveal how their parenting styles are informed by their own individual upbringings. Highlights include a tearful Flea on how becoming a father forced him to drop his vices to be present in his kids' lives; Art Alexakis (Everclear) on how his own father's deep failings inspired him to write one of his band's biggest hits; Ron Reyes (Black Flag) on sacrificing music altogether for a "real" job to be there for his children; and Fat Mike (NOFX) on humoring the boring parents at his daughter's ritzy private school. THE OTHER F WORD salutes modern men everywhere who are embracing the joys and demands of the crazy, non-stop, yet rewarding role of fatherhood.
