MTV ANNOUNCES NEW LATE NIGHT COMEDY SHOW "THE NIKKI AND SARA SHOW," HOSTED BY ACCLAIMED STAND-UP COMEDIANS NIKKI GLASER AND SARA SCHAEFER
Santa Monica, CA (June 14, 2012) - MTV announced today it has picked up a new weekly late night comedy show, "The Nikki and Sara Show," hosted by acclaimed stand-up comedians Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer. Centering around the latest in pop culture, the series, set in MTV Studios in Times Square, will combine fast-paced jokes, celebrity interviews, pre-taped sketches, man-on-the-street pieces and more. Sara and Nikki will bring the fun-yet-sharp chemistry they honed on their popular podcast "You Had To Be There," and filter it through the lens of entertainment, celebrity, music and more. The series is expected to premiere later this year on MTV.
"MTV's audience is searching for something fresh and different in late night, and the humor of Nikki and Sara will perfectly fill the void," said David Janollari, head of MTV Programming. "They are funny and smart with a little edge sprinkled throughout - just the right fit for the time slot and our audience."
"We are beyond excited to be working with MTV on this project," added Schaefer and Glaser. "Now it's just a matter of deciding who gets to make out with Zac Efron first."
Sara Schaefer is a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, writer and producer, who won two Emmy(R) Awards for her work as Head Blogger on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." Nikki Glaser first gained notoriety during "Last Comic Standing," when she advanced to the semi-finals while still attending college. Schaefer and Glaser co-host the popular comedy podcast "You Had To Be There," which was recently profiled in The New York Times Magazine.
Executive producers on "The Nikki and Sara Show" are Sara Schaefer, Nikki Glaser and Kim Gamble. Rob Anderson helped create and develop the series. Brent Haynes is the executive producer for MTV, and Shane Tilston is Executive in Charge of Production for the network.
