JOHN FUGELSANG TO DEVELOP PRIMETIME SHOW FOR CURRENT TV TO AIR THIS FALL

Beverly Hills, CA, August 1, 2012 - Commentator and comedian John Fugelsang will develop and host a primetime show for Current TV, it was announced today during a live broadcast of "Talking Liberally: The Stephanie Miller Show" conducted in front of TV critics at the TCA summer press tour. Known for getting Mitt Romney's advisor to call Mitt an "Etch-a-Sketch" and for prompting George Harrison to give his final performance on VH1, Fugelsang has guest hosted for several Current TV programs including: "The War Room with Jennifer Granholm," "Viewpoint with Eliot Spitzer" and "Talking Liberally: The Stephanie Miller Show."

"We at Current are eager to bring John's unique perspective on politics and the world around him to primetime," commented Current TV Chairman and former Vice President Al Gore. "He's been a part of the Current family for a while now and we see just how much his voice resonates with our audience. His new show will nicely complement our growing lineup."

Though the show will not begin airing on Current TV until the fall, Fugelsang will continue to appear on air as guest host and as commentator. His new series promises to tackle the political and cultural issues of the day with his signature acute insight and razor-sharp wit.

Fugelsang is the son of an ex-nun and a former Franciscan brother; his comedy has traditionally taken on the Christian Right in America and he promises his as-yet-untitled Fall project will be no exception.

"I view Jesus much the way I view Elvis," Fugelsang says - "I love the guy, but some of the fan clubs terrify me. My new show on Current will be an attack ad on apathy; taking the flag back from phony patriots, taking the Bible back from the hypocrites, and taking Bath Salts away from Glenn Beck."

John Fugelsang is an actor, comedian and commentator. He's been featured on MSNBC, CNN, FOX News, Dennis Miller, Air America, NPR, CNBC, and CurrentTV. He's been a regular on MSNBC's 'The Ed Show' and 'UP with Chris Hayes;' CNN's "Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien," HLN's 'The Joy Behar Show;' FOX News' 'Fox & Friends' and 'Red Eye.' He has co-hosted the conservative 'Jay Severin Show,' and been published on The Huffington Post and Daily Kos.

Fugelsang is also 1/3 of "Stephanie Miller's Sexy Liberal Comedy Tour" which broke records across the country and yielded the 1st political album to ever reach #1 on the iTunes, Amazon & Billboard Comedy Charts. He's recently performed for US Troops in El Salvador, Honduras, and on their humanitarian mission to Haiti. He appeared on "Politically Incorrect" more than 20 times, debating Jerry Falwell, David Duke, Erica Jong, Ariana Huffington, Ralph Nader, Michael Steele & Christine O'Donnell.

John Fugelsang lives in New York City's Greenwich Village, on the same block as Bob Dylan's 1st NYC apartment, with a girl named after Cleopatra's handmaiden, a cat named after Bix Beiderbecke, and a brand new baby named after Henry Miller.
